The European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR) is embarking on a major drive to foster sustainability research in Europe and round the world.
Titled “ESSSR Futures” and to be undertaken over the period 2020-2030, the new initiative consists of joint bidding led by ESSSR in cooperation with its members, for a variety of research projects on matters related to sustainable development, to be funded by national, European and non-European sources. Along with its members, ESSSR intends to fill in the many research gaps seen in the field of sustainability research today. Between 2020 and 2030, ESSSR intends to mobilise Euro 60 million in research funding, to be shared across the partnership. Both the ESSSR Coordinating Office in Hamburg, Germany, and its members spread across Europe, will be initiating and leading research projects – and the many publications in peer-reviewed journals deriving from them -, providing a solid and long-lasting contribution towards the achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals.
