ESSSR: selection for fellowships for doctoral students from Central and Eastern European countries open

Dear Colleagues,

ESSSR is inviting PhD students from Central and Eastern European countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia) to apply for fellowships to undertake research on matters related to sustainable development, at our office in Hamburg, Germany, in 2024. The details are:

* Funding period: 6-12 months
* Monthly fellowship: 1.350 €
* Health, accident and liability insurance
* Intensive German course lasting several weeks before the research stay starts

The requirements are:

* Master’s/Master’s/Diploma degree completed with above-average grades no more than five years ago
* Nationality and residence in one of the above CEE countries
* Proposal for a sustainability relevant and practical topic
* Sufficient knowledge of German, to be obtained with the free German classes to be offered in Germany, before the beginning of the stay.

Doctoral students can apply as long as the doctoral project is not completed until after the fellowship has been funded.
The deadline for applications is 31st January 2024. Interested persons should please send us the following documents:

1- your curriculum vitae and copy of the passport to prove the nationality
2- your PhD plan and the planned work plan for your stay in Germany, for between 6 (minimum) and 12 months (maximum) The application process is quite competitive, so we do ask PhD students to prepare high quality proposals, to be sent to:
